How to Find Marching Band Music

Thanks to such high profile events as the Rose Parade in California and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, marching band music is as popular today as it was 50 years ago. Whether you're in a high school marching band or you just get jazzed about this genre of music, it's easy to find great marching band music.

Instructions

    • 1

Search the Internet. A simple search for "marching band music" or "band march music" will lead you to Web sites with marching band music to enjoy or purchase. For example, J.W. Pepper, the largest sheet music retailer in the world, offers a comprehensive Web site with plenty of music for your listening pleasure (see Resources below).

    • 2

Locate the Web site for the high school or college whose band may have performed the particular music you are interested in. Thousands of high schools and hundreds of colleges have marching bands.

    • 3

Look for sheet music if you are interested in playing marching band music as well as listening to it. Sheet music can be found at your local music store, or even at your local high school or college. Rather than the Internet, copies of music may be best obtained by going straight to a music source.

    • 4

Track down music for your listening pleasure at your local music store or check an online music Web site for availability. Larger stores or databases are more likely to carry marching band music.

    • 5

Check the schedule for football games if you live in a town with a football team. Live performances of marching bands are relatively easy to find. Chances are, there will be a marching band performance at most sporting events, though basketball games usually feature smaller versions of marching bands called pep bands. Pep band music is performed in the same style.
