What was the national anthem before star spangled banner?

There was no official national anthem before the Star-Spangled Banner. However, there were several songs that were popular and widely used as patriotic anthems before the Star-Spangled Banner was officially adopted. These songs included:

-"My Country, 'Tis of Thee" (also known as "America")

-"Hail, Columbia"

-"The Star-Spangled Banner" (the original version written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key)

These songs were often played during official events and celebrations, but none of them had official status as the national anthem. It was not until 1931 that the Star-Spangled Banner was officially designated as the national anthem by an act of Congress.
