How to Set Up a DMX Operator

The DMX Operator is a programmable DMX lighting controller device with up to 192 channels and 240 programmable scenes. This controller is designed to be used in various types of professional lighting environments, like stage shows and concerts. The device has the ability to record up to six chases with fade times and speeds, which gives it the flexibility to handle multiple lighting tasks at a time. The process of setting up of a DMX Operator is fairly straightforward.

      Plug the male-end of the male-to-female XLR cable into the "XLR" port in the back of the DMX Operator, then plug the other end of the cable into the "XLR" port in the light fixture or dimmer pack.

      Press the "Power" button to turn the controller on. Then, press the "Up/Down" arrow buttons to set the first channel on the DMX to "1." Note this setting may appear as the default when you turn the device on. This will set the controls for the device control the first XLR-connected unit.

      Press and hold the "Setup" button for three seconds until the green LED light above the Setup button comes on, then press the "Down" button to move the cursor on the LCD screen to the "Assign CH." position. Press the "Record" button.
