When did electronic music originate?
Electronic music origins can be traced back to the 19th century, specifically the 1870s, with the invention of the Telharmonium, also known as the Dynamophone, by Thaddeus Cahill. Considered to be the first electronic musical instrument, the Telharmonium produced sound by using rotating metal wheels called tone wheels, which were connected to electrical generators and amplifiers. However, it was not until the early 20th century that electronic music truly began to take shape and evolve.
