How Do I Get My Music From My Desktop to My Laptop?

Whether you have just bought a new computer or want to move data to another one, you may need to transfer your music files. One of the benefits of transferring music to a laptop from a desktop is that you can listen to your tunes while on the go. Because laptops and desktops share a vast amount of similarities, it takes little time for the transfer process to complete.

      Insert an external hard drive or jump drive into your desktop. Connect the jump drive to a USB port. Plug the external hard drive power adapter into an outlet and connect the USB cord. It is recommended that you use an external hard drive if you are transferring a large amount of files.

      Locate the music files. Right-click on the folder and select "Copy." Click while pressing the "Ctrl" button to select more than one folder.

      Open your storage device. Click the "Start" button and select "My Computer." The storage device will be listed as the "E" drive.

      Transfer the files from the desktop to the storage device. Right click the storage device's folder and select "Paste."

      Insert the storage device into the laptop. Connect the jump drive into a USB port. Plug the external hard drive power adapter into an outlet and connect the USB cord.
