How to Make Your Own Music Widget

Music Widgets are essentially playlists that users create and embed into their Web page, social networking page or blog. A lot of times, people use music widgets to personalize their page or promote certain songs and artists. The actual process of creating a music widget is fairly easy because most of the widget creation sites do the hard work (designing the widget and creating the html) for you. All you have to do is make a playlist, choose a style and copy the code given to you at the end of the creation process.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a playlist. You can do this either before you create your widget or after you've begun. Sometimes it helps to get out a piece of paper, write down your playlist song choices and organize the track listing before you get started.

    • 2

Visit a widget creating site like Mixpod.com, Playlist.com or Flashwidgetz.com. Type the name of a song from your playlist you created in the last step into the site's "Search" bar. When you find it appearing in the search results, click the "Add" or "Plus" button to add it to your playlist. Repeat this process until you've added all the songs from your playlist onto your widget.

    • 3

Register as a user for the site if necessary. It's free and it only takes about 30 seconds to do. Just enter your e-mail address, name and other basic information when prompted.

    • 4

Choose a style for your widget by selecting a skin that you like. You may also be able to change the color of the widget, depending on which site you're using.

    • 5

Save your widget's playlist by clicking "Save," "Get Code" or "Embed." Copy the HTML code that's given to you at the end of your creation process and paste it into your MySpace, blog or website's HTML.
