How to Hook Up Alesis HD24 to a Mixing Board

The Alesis HD24 is an audio recorder that has 24 different input tracks. When hooking the HD24 audio recorder to a mixing board, there are certain items that you must have. Depending on the mixing board, audio connection cables should have 1/4 or 1/8 inch input jacks to ensure a proper connection to the HD24. The HD24 audio recorder is versatile enough to hook up to both analog and digital mixing boards.

Instructions

    • 1
      Plug AC adapter to power source.

      Look to make sure the HD24 audio recorder is turned off. Connect the AC adapter to the back of the audio recorder then plug into a power source.

      Plug cables into mixer outputs.

      Plug audio cables into the "Outputs" of the mixer. Plug audio cables from mixer "Outputs" into the "Inputs" on the back of the HD24 audio recorder.

      Reconnect if you get connect error.

      Connect "Outputs" of the HD24 audio recorder into the "Line In" or "Tape In" slots on the mixer with audio cables. Turn on the HD24 audio recorder and ensure that the unit doesn't say "Connect Error" across the front. Reconnect the audio cables if the "Connect Error" message is displayed across the screen.

      Turn mixer power on.

      Turn on the mixer and determine if it detects the HD24 audio recorder by looking for a green "Input" light located at the top of the mixing board. Reconnect audio cables if the mixer doesn't detect the HD24 input.
