How to Write Music on Computer Programs

Digital audio composing has become the standard in the professional industry. Musicians and record labels have begun utilizing this technique as a way to save money, as well as create sounds which aren't replicate-able by normal instruments. One popular program to use is called Logic. There are three main ways that music can be composed using Logic: External Keyboard, Key-piano and Dragging in notes

Because most professional songs are composed using an external keyboard, this is the approach we will take.

Things You'll Need

• Logic music software
• External keyboard
• USB Cable

     Plug the square end of your USB cable into your keyboard.

     Plug the flat rectangular end of your USB cable into your computer.

   • 3

     Open up Logic.

   • 4

     Create 1 Audio Instrument track. The option to do this should appear when you first open your program.

   • 5

     Press the red-dot "Record" button.

   • 6

     Play your keyboard. The notes that you press will appear on the musical score in Logic.

   • 7

     Press "Stop", to stop recording.
