How to Check the Timing of Drum Hits in Cubase

Steinberg publishes Cubase, a popular audio sequencing program. The system allows you to program drum data through a midi keyboard or midi drum pad, import sampled drum tracks from a computer's hard disk and record live drumming or percussion directly to an audio track. After you've recorded, imported or programmed your drumming or percussion, check the timing of your drum hits using whatever method you've used to get them down.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on "File." Locate the project you want to check on your hard drive.

    • 2

Load the project. Move the slider at the bottom of the screen to locate the part of the drum track you want to check.

    • 3

Double-click on the part of the drum track you want to check. A detailed view of either the midi data or the audio wave will be displayed with a tempo bar above it where you can view exactly where each hit has fallen.
