How did Aerosmith form?

Aerosmith formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1969. The initial line-up was Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry and Brad Whitford (guitars), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums). The band began as The Jam Band and changed its name to Aerosmith in 1970. The group's early influences included British rock bands such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and the Kinks.
