What heavy metal band was the movie rock star based on?

The movie Rock Star was not based on a real band. It is a fictional story about a wannabe rock star named Chris Cole, played by Mark Wahlberg. Cole is the lead singer of a tribute band called Steel Dragon, and he eventually gets his big break when he is asked to join the real Steel Dragon.
