Who was al greens backup singers?
Al Green's backup singers were called "The Memphis Horns." They were a group of session musicians who played on many of the Stax Records recordings in the 1960s and 1970s. The group was led by trumpeter Wayne Jackson and saxophonist Andrew Love. Other members of the Memphis Horns included trumpeter Lester Snell, saxophonist Ed Logan, and trombonist Jack Hale.
The Memphis Horns played on some of Al Green's most famous songs, including "Let's Stay Together," "I'm Still in Love with You," and "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)." The group's soulful and funky sound helped to define the Memphis soul genre.
The Memphis Horns were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
