Early life and education
Roark was born in Marion, Virginia. He graduated from Marion High School in 1976 and from Radford University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business.
Career in business
After college, Roark worked for several companies in the financial services industry. In 1990, he founded his own company, Roark Insurance Agency, which he later sold in 2010.
Political career
Roark was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1998. He represented the 8th district, which includes parts of Smyth, Bland, and Tazewell counties. He was re-elected to the House of Delegates seven times, serving until 2010.
While in the House of Delegates, Roark served on several committees, including the Finance, Banking, and Insurance committees. He was also the chairman of the Health Subcommittee and the Special Subcommittee on the Regulation of Health Professions.
Political positions
Roark is a member of the Republican Party. He is a conservative on fiscal and social issues. He is pro-life and supports the death penalty. He also opposes gun control and same-sex marriage.
Personal life
Roark is married and has two children. He is a member of the Christian faith.
