What happen to the M2M band?

M2M (Marit Larsen and Marion Ravn) disbanded in late 2002, after just two studio albums. The decision was made by the two members, who felt that they were no longer able to work together effectively. The split was amicable, and both members have gone on to have successful solo careers.

There were several factors that contributed to the breakup of M2M. One was the pressure of fame and the heavy workload that came with it. The two members were constantly on tour, and they had little time for themselves. This led to burnout and creative differences.

Another factor was the different personalities of the two members. Marit Larsen is a more introspective and reserved person, while Marion Ravn is more outgoing and extroverted. These differences sometimes made it difficult for them to work together.

Finally, the two members had different musical goals. Marit Larsen wanted to explore more acoustic and folk-oriented music, while Marion Ravn wanted to go in a more pop and R&B direction. This difference in musical direction was another factor that contributed to the breakup.

Despite the breakup, M2M remains one of the most successful Norwegian pop duos of all time. Their two studio albums, _Shades of Purple_ and _The Big Room_, have sold over two million copies worldwide, and they have won numerous awards, including two Norwegian Grammy Awards.

The breakup of M2M was a sad moment for fans of their music, but it was also a natural progression of the two members' careers. Both Marit Larsen and Marion Ravn have gone on to have successful solo careers, and they have both made a significant contribution to Norwegian pop music.
