What Is the Futuristic Rap Movement?

The Futuristic Rap Movement started in Ohio, particularly in the cities of Aurora, Akron, Canton and Cleveland. The movement includes promoters, rappers and dancers, and focuses on helping kids keep their grades up, while getting paid for doing promotions in the music business. Founders Oatz and Vernon Jeffery make school appearances to promote the movement.
  1. Futuristic Rap and Education

    • Students who want to be a part of the Futuristic Rap Movement have to keep their grades up. The Movement has not released figures on what those grades have to be. It does offer a probation period for kids whose grades slip. If they fail to raise their grades, they are not allowed to attend Futuristic Rap Movement events.

    Financial Education and Futuristic Rap

    • The Futuristic Rap Movement provides young people with some financial education, teaching them about percentages and contracts. The founders of the movement have stated that they want promoters of events to be paid for their work instead of just receiving free admission to shows. The Movement teaches kids how to ask for payment for their services as promoters.

    Outings and Events

    • The Futuristic Rap Movement offers outings and events, centered around live music performances of Movement members. Each member pays $10 per month in dues to help fund these events. Members may be performers or promoters.

Perfomers May Get Featured in Videos

    • The Futuristic Rap Movement website (wn.com/Futuristic_Movement) features videos of member performances, including works in progress. Videos of Futuristic Parties and other events are also posted. The site also includes a video on how to join the Futuristic Rap Movement.
