Why can you not view some digital tv channels when connected through a VCR?

Many VCRs do not support digital channels because they were not designed to receive or process digital signals. Digital TV signals are composed of binary codes, while analog signals are composed of continuous waveforms. VCRs are designed to record and playback analog signals, which is why they cannot be used to view digital channels.
