1. Pull the Trim Off the Gear Selector Base
Remove the console trim at the base of the gear selector. Pull up on the left bottom edge of the console trim, and then pull it back to unclip it from the two clips that hold it in place. There are no screws holding the console trim in place. To put the console trim back in, snap the left edge into place first, and then snap the right edge into place.
2. Remove the Two Console Bolts
Remove the 10mm bolt located on the left underside corner of the console trim, and the 10mm bolt located on the right front underside corner of the console trim. Put these two bolts in a safe place. To reinstall the console trim, replace these two bolts to hold the trim in place.
3. Remove the Ashtray
Pull out the ashtray from the center of the console by gripping the bottom of the ashtray and pulling straight toward you. Push in on the back (driver’s side) tab of the ashtray to slide the cigarette lighter assembly to the left. Push in on the front (passenger side) tab of the ashtray to unhook the ashtray from its mount point.
4. Remove the Radio Housing Trim
Remove the two phillips head screws that secure the radio housing upper trim. This trim piece also partially covers the climate controls. Gently pull the left corner of the trim from the bottom, then pull the rest of the trim piece outward to unhook it from the dash. It is hooked on at the top and bottom near the left corner and then hooked down the right side. It is not hooked in at the top middle. Lift the trim piece straight up and off from the dash.
5. Remove the Four Radio Bolts
Remove the four 10mm bolts holding the radio to the dash. There are two located on the top and two located on the bottom. Put the four radio bolts in a safe place. To reinstall the radio, replace the four 10mm bolts.
6. Pull Out the Radio
Slide the radio out from the dash. Put the front faceplate off the CD player before replacing the radio, the face plate can stay removed in the glove compartment.
7. Disconnect the Wiring
Pull the wiring harness and the antenna from the back of the radio. Put your new radio in place and put the harness and antenna back into the radio and slide it back into the slot in the dash. Then put the radio housing back in place and install the two screws for the radio housing cover back in place.
If the new radio has a wiring harness adapter, plug the connector coming out of the radio end of the adapter to the wiring coming off the car. It doesn't matter which way this connector is plugged in. Now plug in the connector of the harness adapter that connects to the radio connector. It only fits in one way. Secure it by closing the retaining clip by pressing it down. Connect other devices such as the iPod adapter cable or the cassette changer cord to the available sockets on the radio or adapter harness (as needed).
You can now push the stereo mounting sleeve back into place and replace the two brackets and screws that hold it in place. Then snap the trim ring into place around the radio. Snap the console trim back into place by snapping in the sides first, then pressing down on the front and rear until they snap into place.
