Print one copy of the script on standard 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper. Keep the script unbound. Print a cover sheet, which includes the title of the script, your full name and the full name of any other authors of the script.
Insert the unbound script and cover sheet into a plain 9-by-12-inch envelope. Seal the envelope. Write your name and address on the front, followed by the script's title and the fact that the material is a TV script. Sign your name, followed by your Social Security number. Any other author of the script must also sign the front of the envelope, and include his Social Security number.
Print a sheet of paper that includes your Social Security number, your return mailing address, your email address and your phone number.
Write a check for $20 (as of April 2011), if you are registering the script with the Writer's Guild West, in California, and are not a member of the guild. Write a check for $10 if you are a member of the guild in good standing. Make the check out to WGAW. Write a check for $25, made out to WGAE, if you intend to register the script to the Writers Guild East, in New York, and are not a member. If you are a member, make the check out for $10; if you are a student with proper ID, make the check out for $17. If you prefer, obtain a money order for the fee.
Place the check or money order on the 9-by-12-inch envelope. Place a credit card authorization form on the envelope, if you prefer to pay by credit card.
Place all the materials, including the 9-by-12-inch envelope, method of payment and personal information sheet, inside a larger envelope. Address it to the appropriate Writers Guild of America, depending on whether you are registering the script with the guild in California or in New York. Mail or deliver the envelope.
