Powerpuff Girls Projects

"The Powerpuff Girls" were the stars of a Cartoon Network series that aired 79 episodes between 1998 and 2005. The kindergarten-aged girls Blossom (the brains), Bubbles (the cute one), and Buttercup (the tough one) were superheroes created by their father, Professor Utonium. The girls protected the city of Townsville from a series of comical villains. The humor of "The Powerpuff Girls" can be replicated in projects in school or at home.
  1. Story time

    • The Powerpuff girls made up stories for in the episode, "The Powerpuff Girls' Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever." Ask children to make up their own Powerpuff tales using the main characters and Townsville settings such as the Mayor's Office, the Powerpuff Girls' home, or the Powerpuff Girls' school. Participants can also list a theme for the adventure (such as resolving a personal conflict or overcoming difficulties through teamwork) and a list of characters. Ask children to draw one setting, one theme, and at least a few characters at random. Have the children write a "Powerpuff Girls" story based on their theme, location and characters.

    Create a Character

    • The Powerpuff Girls are the result of ingredients including sugar, spice, everything nice and Chemical X. The formula was adapted or altered several times to create other superpowered characters, including the girls' evil rivals, the Rowdyruff Boys. Ask children to create their own Powerpuff Girl or Boy. Have the children create the list of ingredients for the new character and describe what abilities the character has. Finally, have them draw the character in the Powerpuff style.

    Powerpuff Girls Parody

    • Watch an episode and have the participants record their own dialogue. Replay the actual episode with the mute on while the participants' recorded dialogue plays.

    Powerpuff Girls Performance

    • The "Powerpuff Girls" were frequently the subject of interviews in Townsville. Have the children set up a radio "interview" with the Powerpuff Girls. With one of more students playing a Powerpuff Girl, have another child act as the interviewer. Have the children work out questions like what is the hardest part about being a Powerpuff. Children can also choose to act out their own version of a Powerpuff Girls episode.
