How to Tune Into a Local TV by Way of the Internet

You no longer need to be sitting down in front of a television set in order to watch your favorite local TV shows. Most stations now broadcast their feeds online, free of charge. In exchange, as with regular TV, you are forced to watch advertisements that cannot be turned off. All you need is a computer with Internet connection. Watch your TV shows from just about anywhere using a laptop with Wi-Fi.

Instructions

  1. Watching TV Through the Local Station's Website

      Go to the website of a local station in your area. Search by the station's call letters in a search engine.

      Scroll through the site and look for the show that you are interested in watching and click the link.

      Watch and enjoy the show. You are allowed to watch the show for free, but you will have to sit through advertisements at regular intervals. These cannot be turned off or skipped over.

    Watching TV Through Other Websites

      Search for other websites, aside from your local TV station website, that will allow you to watch local TV online. Some of these include ChannelChooser, AnyTv and TVneto. These sites will allow you watch shows whether you are in the United States or not.

      Search for the local TV show on the website using the search box. This is usually located at the top of the page in the right-hand corner.

      Click on the link and look for the show that you wish to watch and enjoy. You will be forced to watch advertisements, but if you are outside of the United States. using these third-party sites may be the only option.
