Those living normal, everyday lives, with nine-to-five jobs and struggling to make ends meet, look up to celebrities that live a seemingly perfect life. Celebrities get paid buckets of money, live in palatial mansions, go to the best parties, and wear the most expensive jewelry and clothes. They make their existence seem effortless. To the average Joe this lifestyle may seem unreachable. Admiration, curiosity and maybe even jealousy trigger fascination for that dream-like celebrity lifestyle.
Fascination for celebrities can be brought on by their talent. If you are a good actor, you can get a following based on the work you deliver. Tom Cruise, for instance, known for his "Mission Impossible" movies, has a following of fans that will go see all his features based on his history of successful movies. Singers, such as Prince and Madonna, are still able to fill stadiums regardless whether they release a recent hit. They have established a following that will go to their shows regardless.
Celebrities are worshiped for their physical appearance. Their beautiful faces smile at you from magazine covers and appear in television advertisements. Fascination arises and many try to copy the style or look of their favorite celebrity. Angelina Jolie, for instance, triggered the bee-stung lip trend. Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian are known for their curvy figures. Many feel that if they cannot be a celebrity, they can at least try to look like one.
Fascination for celebrities would not be as prominent without the paparazzi. Gossip television shows and tabloid magazines exploit the problems and bizarre behavior that worshiped celebrities exhibit. Whether it's a jail sentence, drug abuse, cheating scandal, sex tape or eating disorder, reading and hearing about problems of celebrities triggers fascination and can make you feel somewhat better about your own life.
