Who invented LCD?

The first liquid crystal display (LCD) was invented by George Heilmeier in 1968 while he was working for RCA Laboratories in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. However, the first commercially successful LCDs were developed by a group of researchers at the Swiss company Hoffmann-La Roche in the early 1970s.
