* Tom Kilburn and Maurice Wilkes, who developed the Manchester Atlas computer, the first computer with virtual memory, in 1957.
* Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson, who developed the UNIX operating system at Bell Labs in the 1960s and 1970s.
These are just a few of the many people who played a role in the development of operating systems. The operating systems that we use today are the result of their work and the ongoing collaboration of countless other individuals and organizations.
