- Proverbs 11:13: A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is faithful conceals a matter.
- Proverbs 16:28: A perverse person spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.
- Romans 1:29: And being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,
-James 4:11-12: Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, he who is able to save and to destroy.
Based on these verses, here are some ways you can deal with gossip in a Christian way:
1. Do not participate in gossip. This means not listening to gossip, not spreading gossip, and not encouraging gossip.
2. If you hear gossip, confront the person who is gossiping. Gently remind them that gossip is not only harmful to the person being gossiped about, but it is also a sin.
3. If the gossip is about you, pray for the person who is gossiping. Ask God to help them see the error of their ways and to repent.
4. Seek to build up others rather than tearing them down. Speak words of encouragement and kindness, and focus on the good in people.
5. Be a positive example. Show others what it means to live a Christian life by being honest, trustworthy, and kind.
By following these steps, we can help to create a healthier and more positive community in the church.
