Note that the black keys have two names, one sharp and one flat. This is because they can be used to raise or lower the pitch of a note by a semitone.
For example, the black key between A and B can be called either A♯ or B♭. If it is played with an A, it will raise the pitch of the A by a semitone. If it is played with a B, it will lower the pitch of the B by a semitone.
The black keys are arranged in groups of two and three. The groups of two are called "whole tones" and the groups of three are called "semitones".
