The Differences Between Vampires & Werewolves

Vampires and werewolves have been the protagonists of supernatural literature and cinema. Books and movies like "Twilight" have brought these two types of mythical creatures to the center of everybody's attention, and the competition for the most popular has begun. Although they share many similarities, it is clear that vampires and werewolves also have a lot of differences.
  1. Physical Appearance

    • Werewolves are dark-skinned and excessively hairy creatures that can change their shape and turn into wolves either voluntarily or against their will. Vampires, on the other hand, are pale individuals with pointed teeth, which they use for biting humans and drinking human blood.

    Weakness

    • Werewolves are supposed to change forms and turn into wolves when they get angry or upset. Sometimes it is due to their own choice, and they let themselves be transformed in order to become stronger and help someone who needs it, or fight against an enemy. The only way to kill a werewolf is by using a pure silver weapon. Vampires become extremely sensitive in the light. Living mainly in the dark and hiding during daytime, vampires are dark creatures of the underworld, terrified of the sun and avoiding joy and happiness. Vampires are also scared of the holy water.

    Reproduction

    • Humans become werewolves after being cursed, metamorphosed or scratched by another werewolf. Werewolves also give birth to other werewolves. Vampires, on the other hand, do not reproduce naturally. To become a vampire, a person needs to be infected by another vampire. The way vampires infect others is by biting them and mixing their blood with their own saliva.

    Therapy

    • Werewolves are considered sick creatures, suffering from lycanthropy. Because of this, they can be healed and go back to living a normal human life: exorcism accomplishes that. Because werewolves and vampires are connected with the devil, the mystery of the full moon and darkness, the church, the holy water and exorcism can change them. But even though werewolves can be completely cured, vampires cannot. Vampires go on living forever in the dark, drinking human blood.
