Gain your subject's trust. Listen intently to what he says and how he says it. Imagine that you are him and pretend to be like him.
Show empathy for your subject. Ask him where he's from and what he does. Be open and friendly toward him. Look directly into his eyes as you speak.
Match your subject's breathing and speech patterns. Imitate the exact way he breaths and talks, using the same volume. Nod like he nods, move like he moves, using the same body language.
Start to mirror your subject's behavior. Mirror his sitting position and movements. In conversation, use the same type of words he uses. This creates rapport and puts the subject at ease.
Attempt to lead your subject's behavior. Subtly take control by leading your subject's movements. Pay attention to when he begins to move as you move, and speak when you speak. When the two of you are in sync is the time to tell him what you want. Tell him, "You don't need to see my papers."
