Video Effects Tutorials

Video Effects are the most important elements when it comes to video production. Without video effects, your video will just be another low-budget and cliché film. Effects bring your video to life and make it interesting to watch. There are many uses of video effects. You can adjust the lighting, camera movements and colors of a video clip. When you put effects on a video, you will see how much of a difference it makes to your film.
  1. Light

    • Adjusting the lighting of a clip is the first thing you should do when editing a clip. A good piece of software to do this would be Sony Vegas. To adjust the lighting in Sony Vegas, click on the video effects tab and select brightness and contrast. Drag one of the desired effects onto your clip in the time line. Use the sliders to adjust the brightness and contrast for the clip. The contrast of a clip will determine the sharpness of the colors. The brightness will determine how bright or dark your clip will be.

    Camera Movement

    • Sometimes you might not have the advantage of moving your camera during shooting to create dynamic camera movements. You can create camera movements with the help of Sony Vegas. Lengthen the track with the clip you wish to edit on the time line. On the clip, there is an option to select Event Pan/Crop. Press it. There should be an image of your clip with a gigantic F in the center. There should also be multiple small squares along the edges of the clip. Click on any of the squares in the corner of your clip and drag it toward the center. This will zoom in on the clip. Create another key frame in the edit box and click on the giant F. Drag the F to your desired position. Play the video. Notice that the clip now moves in the direction you ordered it to.

    Color

    • There are several ways to edit the color of a clip in Sony Vegas. You can use Gradient Map, Color Curves, Color Saturation and plenty more. The mentioned effects will all create different colors, but will also add different textures to a video clip. It is your job to decide which color adjusting effect fits most efficiently with your clip. The concept of adding color to clips is the same as adding brightness and contrast. Use the sliders to adjust the brightness and contrast effect.
