Mandalorians History

The Mandalorians are a fictitious race of humanoids operating within the mythology of the "Star Wars" saga. Famous examples of Mandalorians include the characters of Jengo Fett and Boba Fett from the movie series. Within the expanded universe of books, television shows and video games, the Mandalorians are a major group of characters with ramifications in the fictional timeline. The history of the Mandalorians is extensive and ties into much of the saga.
  1. Features

    • The culture of the Mandalorians within "Star Wars" is based on the concept of the warrior, much like the real-world samurai. Mandalorians live in a society of rank, with higher members of society training those in the lower caste.

    Significance

    • The first example of a Mandalorian within the mythology was introduced in "The Empire Strikes Back." The character of Boba Fett became a central figure throughout the "Star Wars" saga. His father, Jengo Fett was the principle element involved in acting as the design model for the cloned Stormtrooper army.

    History

    • According to the mythology, the Mandalorians are a warrior race that teamed with the Sith at multiple times throughout galactic history. Eventually, the Jedi destroyed much of the culture. In response, the surviving Mandalorians launched a long war against the Republic and Jedi.

    Considerations

    • The language spoken by the characters in spin-off books and video games has slowly been developed. The original example of the language appeared in the "Republic Commando" series of games and books. Designer Jesse Harlin and author Karen Traviss are responsible for its design.

    Fun Fact

    • One of the most famous facets of the Mandalorians is the battle armor worn by both Jengo and Boba Fett. This armor is one of the most popular costumes at science fiction conventions and, in some sectors, as popular as famous "Star Wars" costumes like Darth Vader.
