Pour rubbing alcohol onto a cloth. Clean the surface of your DVD by making straight strokes from the center of the DVD to the outside edge. This cleaning method will remove any dirty residue from the DVD surface. Be sure to allow the DVD time to dry before testing it.
Spray furniture polish onto a cloth. Polish the scratched surface of your DVD in a radial motion with this cloth. Then finish polishing the disc by making straight strokes from the center of the DVD to the outside edge. Depending on the severity of the scratches, the furniture polish will allow the DVD player to ignore the scratches and read a previously unreadable DVD.
Squirt some toothpaste onto a cloth. Then polish the scratches on your DVD with this cloth using a radial motion. The fine texture of the toothpaste will slowly wear away the top plastic layer of the DVD and remove the scratches. When finished, clean the excess toothpaste off the DVD using rubbing alcohol. This process will enable the DVD player to read a scratched DVD that was previously unreadable.
