How to Meet Celebrities in New York

New York City is home to many celebrities and its bars, nightclubs and restaurants are popular hangouts for those who live in the Big Apple, as well as out-of-town celebrities looking for fun. Many celebrities visit for business, as well. Many actors and musicians will stop by the late-night variety shows and early morning national news programs to promote their latest projects. Meeting celebrities can be easy. It is often just a matter of being at the right place at the right time and knowing where and when to visit these places.

Instructions

    • 1

Study celebrity gossip magazines to see what the popular, current hangouts are for celebrities. Hot spots go in and out of vogue -- often very quickly -- so check the magazine's pictorial sections to see what restaurants, clubs, and stores the paparazzi have found celebrities at recently.

    • 2

Visit the restaurants, nightclubs bars and stores that celebrities have been seen at recently. Dress well so that you can get into the more discerning nightclubs or to get better seating at restaurants where the celebrities might be in attendance.

    • 3

Use good judgment and be polite when approaching celebrities. For instance, do not interrupt their meals when asking for an autograph or requesting a picture. Many celebrities will respond in a positive manner to autograph and picture requests if you wait until they are not busy and ask them nicely.

    • 4

Get a job where celebrities like to hang out or shop. For instance, the woman Tiger Woods allegedly had an affair with, Rachel Uchitel, worked as a VIP hostess at a New York nightclub.

    • 5

Attend charity events where celebrities will be in attendance. Often celebrities will let their guard down a little in these more intimate settings and be more approachable.

    • 6

Visit the early morning news programs. At times, celebrities who appear on these shows will come outside and speak with or sign autographs for audience members.

    • 7

Hang out at a restaurant or bar in a hotel that is popular with visiting celebrities. For instance, the Plaza Hotel is popular with celebrities. Charlie Sheen and his ex-wife Denise Richards were in the news in 2010 after their stay turned into headline news for his bad behavior in one of the hotel rooms.
