Write the basic story for your movie. This is a helpful reference for when you write out the script. Include a character description for each actor that describes his age, height, weight and basic personality traits. Since you are planning a Halloween movie, be sure that your story has suspense and scary aspects.
Write out your script. Have a friend go over the lines with you to make sure they flow well and make sense.
Create a spreadsheet for each scene that lists the actors, props, costumes, make-up and setting for each scene. Make a story board for each scene that describes camera angles, actor placement and lighting.
Find friends and family who will be in your movie. Contact a local actors' guild or community theater to see if any of the members want to participate. Consider assigning various people to be in charge of props, make-up and costumes.
Shop for costumes and make-up after you have chosen your actors so you can be sure of the sizes needed. Ask actors if they already own clothing that would work for their characters to save time and money. Thrift stores and garage sales are good sources for props and costumes.
Ask permission several days ahead of time to shoot scenes on private property and in any businesses you wish to include.
Have at least two people running cameras at all time. Scary scenes are more compelling with unusual camera angles and views. You can choose which angles to include when you edit the film later.
Edit your movie with a desktop movie maker program.
Upload your film to a video viewing website. Tell all your family and friends to watch your new scary movie.
