Movie Theaters With Large Seats in the Chicago Area

Like most major cities, Chicago has a broad selection of movie theaters where film fans can watch the latest Hollywood blockbusters, small independent productions or foreign language films. Equipped with state-of-the-art sound systems and giant screens, some of these movie theaters also feature extra-wide seats that can be shared by couples or viewers seeking a more comfortable cinematic experience.
  1. ShowPlace ICON at Roosevelt Collection

    • Part of the Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres group, the ShowPlace ICON at Roosevelt Collection has a range of modern auditoriums fitted with standard-size seating and extra-wide VIP seating.

      For a few extra dollars, visitors age 21 and older can pay to enter the VIP area. Here they can watch the movie from larger custom-designed seats that feature personal tables for storing drinks and snacks such as popcorn, pizza, frozen yogurt and candy. Guests also benefit from free parking and there is no pre-show advertising.

    Muvico Theater

    • Situated a few hundred meters from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, Muvico Theater offers guests the chance to purchase tickets for VIP areas fitted out with special loveseats and extra-comfortable plush seats. Only available to visitors 21 and older, these VIP areas also provide guests with complimentary popcorn. Muvico Theater screens movies in standard high-quality format, digital 3D and Sony 4K digital projection.

    The Arboretum of South Barrington

    • One of two high-end Gold Class Cinemas in Chicago owned by IPic Entertainment, The Arboretum of South Barrington features large, plush seats and a selection of food and drink. The cinema runs a membership program that grants members discounts on tickets, food and beverages, and gives them access to member-only screenings. The theater also has a concierge service and offers themed packages for special events such as Valentine's Day.

    The Promenade Bolingbrook

    • Part of the Gold Class Cinemas chain owned by IPic Entertainment, The Promenade Bolingbrook has wide, comfortable seats and an extensive food and beverages menu. Members who attend the cinema on their birthday receive a free ticket from the concierge, while special menus, including tap beer and wine by the glass, are available to members every Tuesday.
