Plot:
The film is set in the early 20th century and tells the story of the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic. The story follows the lives of several passengers, including third-class passenger Jack Dawson and first-class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater, who meet and fall in love during the voyage.
Jack is a young man from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, who wins a third-class ticket to America on the Titanic in a poker game. Rose is a young woman from a wealthy family who is betrothed to Caledon Hockley, a wealthy Pittsburgh steel magnate. Rose is unhappy with her engagement and feels trapped by her social class.
Jack and Rose meet on the ship and quickly develop a strong bond. They spend time together, exploring the ship and talking about their lives. Rose begins to fall in love with Jack, and he with her. However, their love is forbidden, as Rose's family would never approve of a match between her and a third-class passenger.
The Titanic strikes an iceberg and begins to sink. Jack and Rose are separated in the chaos, and Jack is trapped in the ship as it sinks. Rose is saved and taken aboard a lifeboat, but she refuses to leave without Jack. She eventually finds Jack and they are both rescued.
Jack and Rose survive the sinking of the Titanic and eventually marry. They live happily ever after, with Rose telling the story of their love and survival to her grandchildren.
