Decide what type of horror props you will need for your film, party or haunted house. Typically these types of creative projects require some bloody weapons, a mutilated corpse, severed heads, blood and some fake guts.
Make a batch of fake blood. Pour a cup of corn syrup into a mixing dish. Add a tbsp. of water and 2 tbsp. of both red and yellow food coloring. Use a spoon to mix the ingredients. Add drops of food coloring until the mix reaches a dark red color.
Make your bloody weapons. Use a pencil to draw a sketch of a butcher knife on some cardboard. Cut the cardboard out to use as a template. Place the template on some craft foam and use scissors to cut the knife shape out of the foam. Coat the foam blade in liquid latex. Remove the plastic blade to a toy knife and glue the foam blade to the handle. This will ensure the knife you make is safe and will not injure anyone using it.
Create several sheets of fake glass. Take 2 cups of water, 1 cup of corn syrup and mix it together with 3 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar. Boil the mixture slowly until it thickens up and becomes clear. Pour out the thickened mixture on to a flat square surface and allow it to cool.
Make a severed head. Take a Styrofoam mannequin head and glue bits of foam on various parts of the head to give it facial features. Use liquid latex to coat the entire head with several layers. Paint the head and apply makeup to make the face look realistic. Glue a wig to the head and apply a small amount of fake blood to the neck area to give it the appearance of being freshly severed.
