Identify the moments in a movie that you wish to parody. For example, parody a love scene that seems forced or melodramatic or a fight scene that seems excessively violent or faked. Parody anything that in some way strikes you as unrealistic but that is intended to come across as realistic in the original scene.
Determine the ways, scene by scene, in which you will exaggerate the original film. Make the scenes as humorous as possible. For example, act out a love scene with a partner in which the embrace between the actors is exaggerated and uncomfortable, either by hesitating or awkwardly positioning your limbs. Exaggerate the melodramatic sensibilities of a scene by excessively gesticulating or creating ridiculous and humorous dialog. Script the dialog or allow your actors to ad-lib the scene. Organize a plan for each scene you wish to parody.
Tie your parody scenes together with a narrative plot. Ensure it is similar to the plot of the original film. For example, if the original film's narrative involves three cowboys driving cattle from Texas to Colorado, you can parody the cowboys driving cats or even have spacemen driving cats.
Prepare to shoot as you would for any film. Choose costumes, create sets and determine camera angles. Prepare to be flexible to any changes in the script or format that will make your movie parody even more humorous.
