When was the first Frankenstein film made?

The first film adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel "Frankenstein" was released in 1910 and was titled "Frankenstein." It was produced by the Edison Manufacturing Company and directed by J. Searle Dawley. The film starred Augustus Phillips as Victor Frankenstein and Charles Ogle as the creature.
