How was Father Ted filmed?

The series was primarily shot on location in and around the towns of Tuam, Kilfenora, Clifden and Ballinrobe in County Galway. Although set on Craggy Island, the exterior shots of Father Ted's house and church were actually filmed at Ashford Castle, a hotel in County Mayo. The interior shots were filmed in Ardmore Studios, County Wicklow.
