Many people these days own video cameras, so there is a good chance that you know someone who has one. Ask around. Find someone who is willing to loan you a camera for a short period of time. You will also need to find a computer with editing software to cut your video and compress it to a digital file. Most computers include built-in editing software, such as iMovie for Apple, so it shouldn't be hard to find a computer with editing capabilities.
You will need to record your video onto a mini DV tape. Ask the person whose camera you're borrowing if he or she has any old tapes that you can use to record over. Record your video to the tape and prepare to upload it to a computer.
Using a FireWire cable, capture the footage you've shot onto a computer. Your camera friend will probably have a FireWire cable that came with the camera. Connect the camera and computer to each other via the FireWire cable and use the editing software to capture your footage.
Cut your video however you like and export it as a digital movie file. Formats like .mov, .wmv or .avi will all work fine. Upload your video to a website like YouTube if you'd like to have it available on the Internet. Put it on an external hard drive or USB flash drive to take with you.
Make sure to return all of the equipment you borrowed to its rightful owners.
