Luminescent lines are thin, flowing lines that look as if they are emitting light. To attempt this effect, you must have a background color that is black or another similarly dark color to allow for the clearest finish. Initially you will use the brush and pen tools to draw your lines. To make the lines glow, you will use the Drop Shadow option, as well as the Outer Glow option. You can use the Eraser tool to blend out lines that may not fit into your picture. If you create a new layer and change the foreground color to a brighter color, you can then use the Blur filter, and you'll add new colors to your lines. This effect works great for creating new desktop wallpapers and also gives an attractive effect when integrated into photos with darker backgrounds.
Sparkle trails are trails of sparkles that can add a whimsical dimension to any photo. They work great for creating a fairy-tale theme for your photos or backgrounds. You will first want to make sure the background for your document is white and use a foreground color of black. You will have to create the sparkle brush on your own, but it's fairly easy. The best base brush would be a star 70-pixel brush, but any star pixel brush will work. Once you decide on a brush, click a few random spots inside your document to create a few sparkles. You will then want to use an airbrush soft round brush to add a few spots to your existing sparkles, then a small starburst brush to add stars to your spots and sparkles. Brushes are available for free and quick download at sites like BrushEezy. Amend your brushes and add this one to your existing brushes, and you now have a sparkle brush.
Rainbow lines are lines of color with a sense of glowing and depth. Typically, these are used mostly as a background for wallpapers, though they can also add excitement to photos of still objects. You'll first want to create a black background, create a new layer and fill with white, then use a fiber filter and motion blur. Apply a gradient over the layer, convert into a smart object and duplicate the layer. Set your background layer to invisible, then merge visible and resize. Apply the effects to edit and personalize as desired.
