Who killed Blackbeard and did he get a reward?

Lieutenant Robert Maynard killed Blackbeard on November 22, 1718, during a battle off the coast of Ocracoke Island in present-day North Carolina. Maynard and his men had been sent to capture or kill Blackbeard under the command of Virginia Governor Alexander Spotswood. After a fierce fight, Maynard and his men boarded Blackbeard's ship and killed him. Maynard later received a reward of £100 from Spotswood for his actions.
