Why does the Grammy Awards resembles to an old record player?

The Grammy Awards trophy does not resemble an old record player. The trophy is a gold-plated gramophone, which was the original name for a record player. The gramophone was invented in 1887 by Emile Berliner, and it was the first device that could record and play sound. The Grammy Awards were first presented in 1959, and the gramophone trophy was chosen as a symbol of the music industry.
