* First American Woman in Space: Ride is the first American woman to travel into space. She flew aboard the space shuttle Challenger on mission STS-7 from June 18-24, 1983. During the mission, she deployed satellites, conducted experiments, and used the shuttle's robotic arm.

* Record-Setting Mission: Ride's first mission aboard the Challenger lasted for six days, 6 hours, and 23 minutes. This was the longest mission for a space shuttle at that time.

* Shuttle Missions: Ride flew two missions aboard the Challenger. Her second mission, STS-41-G, took place in October 1984. During this mission, she deployed three satellites and conducted spacewalks.

* Mission Specialist: Ride served as a mission specialist for both of her missions. Her role involved conducting experiments, operating systems, and participating in spacewalks.

* Awards and Recognition: Ride received numerous awards and recognition for her achievements in spaceflight, including the NASA Distinguished Service Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
