This award, from the Society of American Magicians (SAM), recognizes significant or unique contributions in exposing false mediums. It is named after famed Hungarian-American illusionist and stunt performer Erik Weisz (March 24, 1874 – October 31, 1926), known professionally as _Harry Houdini._ Houdini was famous for his escape acts and he also had an interest in exposing fraudulent spiritualists who attempted to exploit the grieving or vulnerable.
