Who was diamond Dave?
Diamond Dave is the nickname of American heavy metal singer David Lee Roth, best known as the original lead vocalist of the hard rock band Van Halen, which he fronted from its formation in 1974 until 1985, and again from 1996 to 2006. Roth was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen in 2007.
Roth's nickname, "Diamond Dave", was given to him by Kiss frontman Gene Simmons, who was impressed with Roth's extravagant stage persona and charismatic performances. The nickname has stuck with Roth throughout his career, and is often used to refer to him in the music industry and by his fans.
