Can you evolve a growlithe with fire stone on Pokemon XD gale of darkness?

In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Growlithe cannot evolve into Arcanine by using a Fire Stone. Instead, Growlithe evolves into Arcanine when it reaches a high enough level of friendship with its trainer. To increase Growlithe's friendship, you can feed it Berries, have it participate in battles, and talk to it frequently. Once Growlithe's friendship level is high enough, it will evolve into Arcanine when it levels up.
