Can pikachu evolve on mystery dungeon red?

Pikachu cannot evolve in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team.

In this game, your starter Pokémon is fixed and does not evolve. This is to keep the focus on the story and gameplay mechanics.

However, in later Mystery Dungeon games, like Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, you can evolve your starter Pokémon, including Pikachu.
