What Lord of the Rings character had an axe for a weapon?

The most prominent Lord of the Rings character who used an axe as a weapon is Gimli, son of Glóin.

While other characters might have used axes at some point (like some of the Rohirrim), Gimli is the only one who primarily uses it and it is deeply tied to his identity as a dwarf. He wields his axe with great skill and even receives a gift of a powerful axe, the "Gimli's Axe" from the Dwarven king, Dáin II Ironfoot.
