Your Jeep Cherokee when you go to use the cruise control it works fine but try shut off using brake surges foreward and does not want then throws a cel any ideas?

Possible cause(s) that could lead to this issue:

1. Faulty Brake Light Switch: The brake light switch is responsible for signaling the Cruise Control system to disengage when the brake pedal is pressed. If the switch is faulty or not working properly, the Cruise Control system may not receive the signal to disengage, causing the issue you are experiencing.

2. Cruise Control Switch Assembly: The Cruise Control switch assembly, located on the steering wheel or dashboard, may be faulty or have poor electrical contact, preventing it from properly disengaging the Cruise Control system.

3. Wiring Issues: There may be a problem with the electrical wiring or connections related to the Cruise Control system. A damaged wire, loose connection, or corrosion can disrupt the communication between the Cruise Control switch, brake light switch, and the engine control unit (ECU), leading to malfunctioning of the Cruise Control system.

4. Sensor Malfunction: Some vehicles use sensors, such as the vehicle speed sensor or throttle position sensor, to control the Cruise Control system. If any of these sensors are faulty or malfunctioning, it can affect the proper functioning of the Cruise Control system.

5. Software Bugs or ECU Issues: In rare cases, software bugs or issues within the engine control unit (ECU) can cause unexpected behavior or malfunctions in various systems, including the Cruise Control system.

To accurately identify the root cause and fix the issue, it's recommended to have your Jeep Cherokee diagnosed by a professional mechanic or automotive technician who can perform the necessary tests, inspections, and repairs.
