>Plot:
Donnie Darko is a troubled teenager living with his parents and younger sister in Middlesex, Virginia. He is sleepwalking one night when he sees a large, glowing rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days, 06 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds.
Concerned about the vision, Donnie begins to investigate the nature of the apocalypse and what it means for him. He meets a new girl named Gretchen and they become close. Donnie also finds out that his English teacher, Karen Pomeroy, is involved with a time travel experiment.
As the countdown continues, Donnie becomes increasingly haunted by Frank and the visions he sees. He tries to prevent the apocalypse by breaking into Pomeroy's home and destroying her time machine. He is unsuccessful and the world ends as Frank predicted.
In a twist ending, Donnie wakes up in a parallel universe, where he has stopped the apocalypse by using his time travel abilities to save Gretchen's life. He returns to his original reality and realizes that the apocalypse is a constant cycle that he is meant to repeat over and over again.
